Meet Angelica and Brantley of Rove and Revel

After successfully wrapping up a Saturday serving the community in Virginia Beach, Angelica took to the time to speak with me on Rove and Revel’s journey. Lets sip on some matcha and discover Rove and Revel:

A Brewing Dream

With her love of hosting, Rove and Revel’s journey goes back to the celebration of Angelica and Brantley’s son turning one year old, with a brunch-themed party. To their surprise, no one specialized in this specific type of party/food catering service here in the 757.

Celebrating her son’s first birthday is one milestone, but doing this while pregnant with her second child? That was another task to worry about, which drew inspiration for having a brunch charcuterie-style party for guests to help themselves and serve one another.

With the help and support of her dad, Angelica’s mini pancake cart was brought to life by his hands, and from there the pancake-flipping cart was ready to be taken to local family and friend events. Word of mouth turned into consistent bookings, and the birth of Rove and Revel came to life.

Barely having time to spend with her family due to the traditional 9–5 corporate life—and after dealing with her youngest son’s RSV scare—Angelica made a declaration to herself that her time as a mom being pulled away by corporate life was done. After successfully leaving her job and pursuing her dreams of hosting and being a stay-at-home mom, there was nothing that could get in the way of Rove and Revel.

From event bookings starting in September 2025 to the purchase of the trailer we know and love in January, Rove and Revel was off cruising on I-64 to serve the Hampton Roads community.

Rise and Grind

Larger coffee chain competition will always be out there, and Angelica admits that this is a constant worry for her. One of their many trailer setups is now facing competition from a major coffee chain being built right across from them. This worry started to ease when she met a local who admitted that, because of their leap of faith, they, too, wanted to open their own coffee shop back in their hometown in Florida.

From there, Angelica realized that despite the small business versus big coffee shop issue, they were already making a genuine impact here, and no large business could provide the authenticity they were brewing up. “Community over competition,” Angelica says, is the drive that keeps them going—to show up and provide an authentic experience no larger chain can offer.

What’s the ultimate goal? Creating a safe, local community spot people want to come out to. There is no rush to open a storefront at the moment, as Rove and Revel wants to continue to grow with the community and flourish, knowing that they are providing great quality service and a genuine connection with those who drive out to support them.

A year from now, she hopes that this dream can fund her family in Guam—not just to move here, but to thrive! Angelica hopes to have multiple Rove and Revel trailers here in the 757, all while inspiring people who come from immigrant backgrounds that this dream is still possible.

“When it comes to supporting small businesses, you’re never going to find that genuine connection and passion from a larger chain—that’s why supporting small businesses matter, because we truly love our community,” says Angelica, reminding us of the importance of supporting small businesses.

The goal isn’t just to make money; it’s to build authentic connections with a community that wants to see them thrive while providing quality products made with love and intention. Her advice to other small businesses? “Stay true to yourself! People will always see your true intentions, and by staying true to your intentions, people will always come back to support you.”

Brewing Good Vibes

Rove and Revel isn’t just a mobile café; it’s a trailer ready to serve every part of the Hampton Roads community with refreshing beverages, warm pancakes, and an authentic realness no big coffee chain can whisk up.
